ALPINE BOG MAPPING

Alpine bogs can be mapped with 35cm aerial images although much better information can be extracted from15-20cm images. Both Infra-red and natural colour are usesful. Many alpine species can be mapped, wildfire damage can be detected and feral animal damage can be clearly identified. For example, using aerial photography is quick and efficient to find damaged bogs or medium to large willows where acess is difficult and time consuming on the ground. A targeted plan can then be used to repair of eradicat feral populations.
